The Cross River Government has sent its congratulations to the new Sariki If the Hausa community in the State, seeking to extend their long-term partnership and growth for the development of the Cross River.
The message was delivered when Dr. Janet Ekpeyong, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, visited the new Chief of the Hausas.
Dr. Janet held that the State has a long-lasting relationship with the Hausa-Fulani ethnic group spread across the 18 LGA’s, which has led to a greater and wider acceptance of health programs in the State, a recent example being the improved vaccination figures and indices of child and maternal mortality and morbidity.
“I am here to congratulate you for being chosen to represent your people as well as to seek continuity of an outstanding relationship which has existed between your community and the State Government, especially as it concerns all aspects of health interventions and the optimal utilization of health care facilities in your locality.
“So far, the Government has expanded its intervention to all communities in the State through the building, rehabilitation of existing structures, provision of manpower, and the stocking of health facilities including those within what we call the “Hausa-Fulani” communities across the State.” She said.
She added that the State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade, through the State health team will continue to show leadership and capacity in expanding coverage to meet the health needs of the people.
In his response, the newly installed Sariki Hausa of Cross River State, Alhaji Saraki Garba, praised the Governor for the inclusiveness of his Government and the unbiased access to health.
