A High Court of Cross River State presided over by Justice Bassey Ebute has failed to deliver judgment in a suit seeking community interpretation of relevant sections of the Cross River Universal Basic Education Law, 2006 which provide for compulsory, free basic education.

This is the second time judgment has been shifted. Earlier, it was because the Judge needed a clean copy of the law but today, the Judge has gone for an official assignment, according to the court Clerk, necessitating a new date, Thursday, May 23rd, 2022.

Barrister Kehole Enya, Counsel to the plaintiff told CrossRiverWatch that they were informed that the Judge had gone on an official assignment.

He said he is sure the assignment the Judge went for is worth it else the court would have sat.
