The Cross River State Correspondent of the Nation Newspaper, Mr. Nsa Gill has taken over from Victor Dan as the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Cross River State chapter.
Gill muscled 76 votes to defeat his opponent Oka Ibor of Cross River Newspaper Corporation, who garnered 50 votes.
The NUJ National Vice President, South-South, Comrade Opaka Dokubo assisted by the Zonal Secretary, John Angese announced Gill as the winner.
He congratulated the winners and other contestants saying there is no winner, no vanquished as they continue to watch over themselves and society.
He urged members to support the new leadership in piloting the affairs of the State Council, adding that it takes the support of everyone for the union to live in harmony.
In his speech, the newly elected Chairman said his victory is for the entire members of the NUJ, as he will operate an open-door administration where every member is carried along.
Others elected to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years include Florence Kanu as Vice Chairman, Solomon Azu of Cross River Newspaper Corporation as Secretary, and Archibong Bassey of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA as Financial Secretary.
Other execs are Kingsley Agim as Assistant Secretary, and Achiane Adams as Treasurer, both are from Information Chapel.
