Ayade, Five Other Cross Riverians Among 447 Recipients Of National Honors

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and five other Cross Riverians are among the 447 recipients of the National Honor award, 2022.

Former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, Mr. Anthony Ayine, Mr. Gershom E. Henshaw, Amb. Anthonia A. Ekpe Ph.D., Evangelist Blessing Bassey Duke joined selected Nigerians conferred various national honors on Tuesday in Abuja.

The National Honors were instituted by the National Honors Act No. 5 of 1964, during the First Republic, aimed at rewarding the hard work and toil of those who work tirelessly to create a better Nigeria for all.

The list which is increased from 437 nominees to 447 as earlier released has 6 recipients for the honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 55 for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) 64 for Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and 70 for Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).

Others include 108 for Officer of the Order of the Niger, (OON) 74 for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) 55 for Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), and eight for Federal Republic Medal l and ll (FRM).

While Vice Admiral Ibas received the honor of CFR which is the second highest in the Order of the Federal Republic behind only the GCFR reserved for the President, Governor Ayade alongside his Governor colleagues, received the CON which ranks behind the GCON in the Order of the Niger honors.

Mr. Ayine and Amb. Ekpe received the OON medal while Evangelist Duke and Mr. Henshaw received the MFR medal.
