Governor Ayade Approves Recruitment Of Teaching And Non-Teaching Staff

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Benedict Ayade has approved the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff for the Smart School established by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, located at Kakum in Obudu Local Government Area of the State.

Smart School is said to have been established by UBEC with assistance from the Korean Government, following the subsequent invitation of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Senator Stephen Odey to Korea by the Korean Government to understudy Smart Schools operation in the country.

In a statement made available to journalists, the Smart School is built to accommodate ECCDE, primary education, and Junior Secondary School sections.

Applicants are to apply for teaching and non-teaching staff positions on the Cross River State SUBEB website.

According to SUBEB “the teaching subjects for primary school include English Studies, Mathematics, Cultural and Creative Arts, Home Economics, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Social Studies, Civic Education, Security Education, Christian Religious Studies, Nigerian Languages, and Special Needs Education.

 “The Junior Secondary School subjects are English Studies, Mathematics, Nigerian Languages, Basic Science, Physical and Health Education, Basic Technology, Computer Studies and Robotics, Social Studies, Civic Education,

Security Education, Christian Religious Studies, Cultural and Creative Arts, Vocational Studies, Business Studies, French Language, and Special Needs Education.”

“Candidates applying for teaching positions must have a minimum of First Degree in Education or NCE and must be registered with TRCN. Relevant teaching experience in a recognized school will be an advantage. Applicants must not be more than 40 years, must be computer literate, and should have good communication skills in both written and spoken English language. Few NCE holders with good ICT knowledge will equally be considered, ” said Governor Ayade in the release.

He further added that “Non-teaching staff positions are limited to technicians with a high degree of ICT knowledge and ability to be facility managers of the establishments.”

The application letters must be addressed to the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Calabar, with photocopies of all relevant educational certificates, birth certificates or affidavits of age declaration, certificate of Local Government of origin, and two passport-size photographs attached and enclosed in a file jacket.

Closing date for submission of applications is strictly Midnight of Tuesday, 25th October 2022.

Shortlisted applicants for teaching positions will be subjected to a written test and oral interview.
