The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) National Commissioner for information and voter education, Festus Okoye, Esq. has warned unregistered voters to stay away from the elections process come 2023.
The INEC National Commissioner for information and voter education issued the warning while addressing the journalists on why INEC is part of Carnival Calabar on Wednesday.
“Our message is that only the PVC can change your circumstances. Therefore, those who do not have PVC do not have any business in the electoral process. Our responsibility is to make sure those who Nigerians say would win, win this election,” Okoye said.
Okoye said that this period is a critical stage in the electoral process. Which is why INEC is making available PVC for collection at this point in time. “Our joining Carnival Calabar is part of our enlightenment program and process to make sure people collect their PVC.”
He continued, “people must understand that the PVC has power and potency, if PVC did not have power and potency, you will not see people canvassing for vote buying.
“Our message is that only the PVC can change your circumstances. Therefore, those who do not have PVC do not have any business in the electoral process.” He warned.
Barrister Okoye added that the Commission has no political party. Its responsibility is to make sure those who Nigerians say would win, win this election.
He concluded that “the time has come for us to organize the freest, and fairest election in the continent of Africa. The conduct of free, fair and credible elections is a shared responsibility, multi stakeholders’ venture and all of us must strive to do what is right at all times.”
