The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the 2023 general elections, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday sought a ceasefire from warring stalwarts of the party in Cross River State due to the fallout from the primaries.
Mr. Tinubu who was in Calabar as part of town hall meetings by his party while addressing supporters called Senator John Owan-Enoh and Mrs. Mary Ekpere-Eta to join him on stage.
Senator Owan-Enoh has taken the party, and its Guber candidate, Senator Bassey Otu to Court challenging his candidacy. He lost at the trial level and at the Court of Appeal.
For Mrs. Ekpere-Eta, she lost at the convention to incumbent National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu, and at the Senatorial primaries to State lawmaker, Honorable Eteng Jones Williams.
She approached the Federal High Court which declared the elections null and void and ordered a new one which Mr. Eteng won again.
Tinubu, who focused more on Owan-Enoh, said, “We have been great friends, and we have always shared one thing in common: progressive thinking and the capacity to change the dynamics of regression. No matter what degree of anger we feel.
“You, Senator John Enoh, we are bound to be angry in one way or the other. We are bound to be disappointed. As long as human beings live, we are bound to have our regrets.
“But abandoning our people and cause and determination to make progressives, that they have lived with the people’s commitment is not what you’re out for. I saw you at the airport and I begged you and I am begging you publicly, let it end. Let it end. Please, enough lawsuits.
“I know you can never be satisfied with everything in life, life in itself, who knows that I will be here today? Please let us end it.”
The Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, Senator Otu, and the State Chairman, Alphonsus Eba Esq then joined the trio on stage with Mr. Eba kneeling and waving his hands in the air.
