Bekwarra Local Government Chairman, Traditional Leaders Seek Measures To Curb Insecurity In Communities

By Mary Bassey

The Executive Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, Dr. Emeka Josephat, and traditional leaders in the LG have sought measures to tackle insecurity in Bekwarra communities.

This was reached in a meeting between the Bekwarra Local Government boss and key traditional leaders held in the Chairman’s office, where all were enjoined to uncover all forms of evil in their domain.

Dr. Josephat noted that the issue of security is everyone’s responsibility and all must reshape the mindset of the people in the society and family for a sustainable security posture.

He said the communities are “less secure today because of us. We do not challenge events contrary to natural progression. We don’t talk about what we see. We praise illegalities, unethical and immoral actions.

He added: “However, the problem of insecurity can be solved if we change our attitude towards the way we live with each other within our community. We as a people should start speaking up on issues concerning things that are inimical to societal peace.”

On their part, Paramount Rulers and Clan Heads unanimously agreed to work harmoniously and relentlessly with the Chairman and other security agencies to ensure a safer Bekwarra.

In attendance include the Paramount Ruler of Bekwarra, His Royal Majesty, Chief Linus Ogbeche Odey, Clan Heads of the various Clans in Bekwarra, Mr. Emma Eguma the Director of Security Operations Bekwarra LGA, Mr. Afo Julius, the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Chieftaincy Affairs amongst other dignitaries.
