This is a column by Ken Henshaw, Executive Director of We The People. WITTY THOUGHT is a brisk review of situations in Nigeria with the intent to revive social consciousness.
I hear so much about ‘ancestral curses’ these days. It has become the basis of Pentecostal Christian teaching.
For this doctrine, breaking away from our ancestral roots is seen as liberation.
I keep wondering, when did our ancestors become our enemies? Who taught us to hate them so much? Why do we reject our ancestors and happily welcome the ancestors of other tribes and reference them in religious teachings? Is it because they are black?
Who taught black people to hate themselves so much?
This view is strictly mine.
