Controversy Trail Murder Of Boki Graduate In Abuja Hotel

By Patrick Obia

Controversy has continued to trail the murder of Boki-born graduate, Promise Ekong in a hotel, Stanzel Grand Resort, 5th Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

Promise, who concluded her National Youth Service in November 2022, was said to have drowned in the hotel’s shallow swimming pool after she was invited by a yet-to-be-identified friend on Wednesday 8th February 2023.

Her family has fingered the police and the hotel management for foul play claiming they have refused to show them the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera footage.

It is alleged that the person who invited her later claimed to have been a good samaritan to help her to the hospital.

Though the deceased family has contacted a lawyer and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department unit as the police station in Gwarinpa says the case is more than them.

Promise Ekong’s death is coming less than five months after a 400 Level student of Microbiology at the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, Blessing Kona Udie was hacked to death in a residence in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja.

Miss. Blessing and three others butchered were said to have been in the “wrong place at the wrong time” when she accompanied her friends to an apartment housing a mini music studio for production.
