The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Cross River State has announced plans to conduct mock accreditation with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) so as to ascertain the readiness of the device for the February 25th and March 11th polls.
The exercise which will hold in Obudu and Ogoja in the Northern Senatorial District, Ikom and Boki in Central, and Calabar Municipality and Bakassi in the Southern Senatorial District will run from February 4th to February 11th, 2023.
Anthonia Nwobi, Head of Voter Education, INEC in Cross River State, made this known in a statement to journalists in Calabar, the State capital.
The electoral umpire said the exercise was in continuation of its resolve to ensure a hitch-free polls and that it will use the opportunity to test the credibility of the BVAS machine. She said the mock accreditation would help to test the credibility and reliability of the BVAS machine.
In Obudu the exercise will hold in Alege/Ubang and Obudu Urban1, in Ogoja, Ogoja Urban 1 and Mbube East 2, Ikom in Ikom Urban 1 and Olulumo, Boki in Boje and Ogep/Osokom, Calabar Municipality in Akim Primary School and Ishie Town and in Bakassi, Akwa and Ambai Ekpa.
