Nigerian-American Music Artist Challex D’Boss Roll Out Plans To Support Young Talent

By Patrick Obia

Afro-American music artist, Challex D’Boss says plans are in top gear to encourage and support young talent in the music industry in Nigeria, especially from Cross River State.

The Cross River-born music star stated this in a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State where he thanked his fans and loved ones who stood by him while he was in Calabar before moving to the US for music.

The afrobeat singer said he will continue to preach Cross River to the world despite the notion it is a ‘killer zone’ for talents.

“I always talk about Calabar to the world because in as much as people try to paint Calabar as a killer zone for talents, Calabar made me who I am and I am always grateful; it is Calabar to the world. We have talented people and have what it takes.

“I’m based in America right now but I bet you I will be more Nigerian because Afrobeat can’t be done outside Nigeria properly; we need to be home to do what we have to do. It is going to be an in-and-out thing for me.”

His Exodus

While fielding questions from Journalists, Challex said his move abroad is to experience how music is done in other parts of the world and help to mentor the upcoming and talented artists in the State.

“Music is life for me, sometimes you get to understand the things you love when you don’t see them happening. I love music so much, I don’t do it because I see people do it; music is my life. When I sing I feel happy and fulfilled. It is a dream and the beauty of dreams is the pains, disappointment, the waits, those things actually sum up them all.

“I feel it is a delicate time in Nigeria for Nigerians to be outside; it is a decision-making time for us to choose as to who will paddle the affairs of the nation for the next four or eight years. I have talked so much about this issue and most importantly, I have come back to vote and make a choice. Leaving Nigeria is not due to the jakpa syndrome. If not I wouldn’t have come back here again. I am a believer of Nigeria and believe Nigeria will be great again.”

He advised young and upcoming artists to work, stay on goal, work hard, and invest in their hustles.

“A lot of people don’t really hustle their hustle, they just want to sing; Calabar is a small place and you need to respect authorities, you need to keep friendship no matter how small it is. Everybody is an important figure in our life; also try to know people you are not supposed to hang around with and keep the energy positive. Try to leave hate so you can work freely. Cross River artists need to stand up,” he charged.

Challex Shares Experience, Unfolds Upcoming Event

Sharing his experience in his four months while in the US, he disclosed the Challex D’Boss unleashed music concert season 3 where the winner of the competition will go home with five million Naira and a record deal.

He added that the much anticipated Aproko music video will be on all music video stations and all social media platforms.

“It was a very short time abroad but it was like five years especially when you have to adjust with time, weather, food, and all that. The experience is something I would want everybody here to have. When you travel out you will see the country (Nigeria) is actually sleeping, there is a lot of development out there. As I said, I’m a believer of Nigeria, that is why I still have to come down to also cast my vote and will implore everyone eligible to also do the needful – come out with your PVCs and let’s make a decision for good.”

“Next month Aproko video will be on all spaces – MTv base, Sound city, and others. By November, we will be having the Challex D Boss unleashed music concert season 3 in Calabar; we will also be having two guest artists and a couple of my friends from the USA. We will be giving out the sum of five (5) million Naira and a record deal to the winner of the competition. 2023 is going to be great and I will be giving it to you all back-to-back.”
