During the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Cross River State, violence was recorded in some polling units.
An INEC official whose name is yet to be verified was attacked in Bakassi, he is currently hospitalized.
In Odukpani, also in the Southern Senatorial District, 5 Police officers and 4 NSCDC officers were attacked, 5 SUVs were set ablaze and two weapons were seized from the officers.
In Ugep, Yakurr LGA, Central Senatorial District, in Akabom polling unit while sorting and counting was ongoing, armed youngmen numbering over 10 appeared from nowhere and started firing sporadically.
In Obudu, Northern Senatorial District, one Ukpang, Mayor, and Papa Bala accompanied by policemen were seen harassing opposition (PDP) supporters.
One Joseph Anale was arrested after a severe beating at the timber shade polling unit. Anale is still in Police custody.
