The Chairman of Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State Hon. John Etuk has joined the fight against cholera outbreak in the State by supporting with some medical commodities across the villages in the LGA.

The Director-General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Mrs. Abasioffiong Offiong thanked the Etung LGA boss and called on other chairmen who are yet to support the fight against the epidemic to tow his path.

The DG said the house-to-house cholera sensitization exercise is ongoing and no stone will be left unturned to ensure Cross Riverians are safe.

She lauded the State Government and partners for the tremendous support and efforts that are helping to cushion the cholera outbreak.

Abasioffiong implored Cross Riverians to practice good hygiene, regular hand washing, proper closing of all drinking utensils as well as being careful with the water they drink noting that cholera is a waterborne disease that spreads and kills faster.

“Effective hygiene practice is the most scientifically proven way to break the route of transmission of cholera. As simple as effective hand washing before eating, after eating, after using the toilet, before breastfeeding, etc can do a whole lot of magic,” she advised.
