The Senate has again passed the bill establishing the Federal University of Agriculture, Ogoja, in Northern Cross River, and has asked the clerk of the house to forward clean copies of the bill to President Muhammad Buhari for assent.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Jarigbe Agom, was first passed on Wednesday 7th July 2022, and transmitted to the president for assent.
But Months after the people of Ogoja had waited with bated breath for the president to sign the bill, the bill was returned to the Senate, with a request for a few amendments, and the bill was read on the floor of the Senate for the 3rd time.
Speaking about the institution, Jarigbe said “The institution, when established, would help accelerate the agricultural growth rate, enhance the income of farmers, transform educational infrastructures, and generate employment opportunities in the sector for constituents.” He said.
