Cross River State began the construction of the Obudu Airport a few months before the Ebonyi Airport in Abakaliki, in 2019.
Cross River State and Ebonyi State, are at per at the bottom of earnings from the federal allocation FAAC, in Nigeria.
Governor Ayade vowed before red cap chiefs in Obudu that if he doesn’t finish the Obudu airport before leaving office as Governor, he should be banished from Obudu. He has also set three unrealized dates for the opening of the airport.
Two Air Peace aircraft landed at the Abakaliki airport yesterday. The Obudu Airport remains in rubble.
Implication:
The Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar lost more than half of its traffic to the Uyo Airport and the efficiency of IbomAir in the past few years.
Another chunk of the traffic will now be lost to Abakaliki Airport for most travelers from Biase LGA up to the entire five LGAs in northern Cross River, who will now get home earlier from Abakaliki than from Calabar. The Calabar airport will suffer the backlash.
Even me, I would rather land in Abakaliki and get home in Obudu in three hours than landing in Calabar and getting to Obudu in six to seven hours.
CallyAir no work, Airport no work. But there is an Aviation Ministry that Ayade created and people are earning salaries there. Issorite!
I really don’t know any problem I can say Governor Ayade solved as Governor in eight years of his administration. If anyone knows any, the person can help out.
Yours sincerely.
