No Tension, Diversion Of Election Duty Allowances – NCoS Debunks, Warn Against Fake News

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Cross River State Command has debunked a report making rounds in the media that there is tension and diversion of the 2023 general election duty allowances of personnel.

It was reported that some personnel of NCoS in the State are disgruntled over alleged seizure of the election duty allowances and are set to stage a protest to vent their displeasures.

But in a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Command of the Correctional Service, DSC Effanga Etim, said nothing of such is going on.

He said payment of the allowances is still ongoing and the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa is ensuring that every personnel of the Service who participated in the elections is paid.

Effanga described the report as fake news and called on all and sundry to always verify information before spreading.

The release reads: “The attention of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Cross River State Command has been drawn to disturbing reports in some sections of the media about a purported protest by some personnel of the command over unpaid election duty allowances.

“The command wishes to state that there is no iota of truth in the reports as there is no such fabrication going on in any of the correctional formations across the state.

“This is to clarify that payment of the allowances is still ongoing and that the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa FICMC, MFR, mni, is ensuring that every personnel of the Service who participated in the elections is paid. The Controller General is also ensuring that no one is left out in the payment of the allowances.

“Consequently, the State Controller of Corrections Cross River State emphasizes that there is no tension in any of the Centres as claimed in the malicious report.

“The Controller enjoins the public to disregard the reports as they are intended to mislead the public. We also use this medium to implore journalists to at all times verify their information before going to print.”
