Between Rufai Oseni and Seun Kuti BY FIDELIS DUKER

Recently, these two incidents have caused quite a stir in the society. The first being the case of Oseni Rufai, who broke traffic laws and then threatened to report the policemen to the governor. The second being that of Seun Kuti, who slapped a policeman and then justified his actions.

Oseni Rufai’s case is disheartening because it shows that some individuals feel entitled and above the law.

When he was stopped by policemen for breaking traffic laws, instead of admitting his mistake and accepting the consequences, he threatened the policemen. This attitude is what encourages lawlessness and indiscipline in society. It also confirms that some individuals see their relationship with political figures as a means of escaping justice.

Seun Kuti’s case is also disturbing because it shows a blatant disregard for authority. Interestingly, he is yet to apologize for his actions, he also justified it by citing police brutality and corruption. He has even gone ahead to say he readily slaps policemen at the slightest provocation.

The truth is that no matter how flawed the system may be, it does not justify assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Both incidents have far-reaching consequences. They undermine the authority of law enforcement agencies and encourage citizens to be disobedient. This can lead to anarchy and unrest in the society.

The consequences of such actions should not be taken lightly. The police are there to protect the citizens, and any assault on them is a direct attack on the safety and security of society. Citizens must learn to respect the law and be held accountable for their actions.

In summary, the cases of Oseni Rufai and Seun Kuti have attracted negative attention to society. It is important to remember that no one is above the law, and everyone must be held accountable for their actions. The authorities should take strict measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future and if it does, those involved must face the consequences.
