If I Fail, Hold Me Accountable – Akpanke Assures His Constituents

By Godwin Otang

The member representing the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Honorable Peter Apanke has reassured his constituents to hold him to ransom if he fails as their representative.

The lawmaker remarked while concluding his constituency-wide needs assessment tour and stakeholders engagement.

In his words: If I fail, all of you have failed. That is why I have come back to you people. I have come back to you people to hold me accountable for the mandate you gave to me, I am not going to stop going on television, I am going to talk until the world will hear us.

“It is our responsibility to continue to support ourselves if a project comes to your community. If people are working in your community, buy pure water for them, tomorrow you have food, give them, it is to assist them to work, don’t say Peter Akpanke should come and work, it is a project for your community,” he implored.

He continued: “Go there and supervise them, if what they are doing is not right you call them to order. By the grace of God, I want to assure you that better things are here,” Akpanke echoed.

The first-timer lawmaker averred that while he entered a social contract with the people who have fulfilled their part, it is pertinent for him to initiate moves towards the fulfillment of his pact with them and also appealed that, “more support and cooperation” from his constituents as that will aid the process of delivering on the people’s mandate.
