The Alumni Association of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has congratulated a former Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh on his appointment as Secretary to the Cross River State Government (SSG).
The Alumni also commended Governor Bassey Otu for trusting the ex-Vice Chancellor with such an important position in his administration describing him as a “thoroughbred administrator with impressive performance credentials that will bring so much value to his government.”
“We want to congratulate our former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh on his recent appointment as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG by Governor Bassey Edet Otu. We thank the Governor immensely for finding him worthy to serve in such an important position,” read the statement signed by the National President, Comrade Eyam Abeng.
Applauding the records of Professor Owan-Enoh, the association said: “SSG is the engine room of the government and we are particularly pleased that the Governor has gotten a perfect fit for the position. Prof. Owan-Enoh is a thoroughbred administrator who has always distinguished himself in every given opportunity.
“He was an outstanding administrator as provost of the College of Education, Akamkpa, and Vice Chancellor of our dear alma mater. We’ve no doubt that he’ll bring his wealth of experience to bear in making Governor Otu’s administration a very successful one.”
The alumni urged the Governor to create more opportunities to accommodate many products of the University in his government.
“As we always say, UNICROSS has come of age and it is an asset to the State Government. We are very pleased with the appointment of our ex-Vice-Chancellor. This has given us the confidence that more of our products would be accommodated in the new administration.
“Professor Owan-Enoh has groomed and produced some of the most innovative, resilient, and hardworking graduates during his time as Vice-Chancellor. It is only normal that now that he has been elevated to the Chief admin officer of the government, he, through the Governor, creates opportunities for more of his products to showcase what he instilled in them.
“We are hoping that his appointment would open more opportunities for UNICROSS graduates who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavors. As an association, we see the new government as our own and we will support and encourage the government to succeed in any capacity we are capable of.”
