The Senator representing the Cross River Southern Senatorial district in the 10th National Assembly, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Jrn has been appointed to the Senate Adhoc Committee for Road Infrastructure.
The one-time Senator is saddled with oversight function on Nigerian road infrastructure with an immediate focus would be resolving issues plaguing federal roads while equally addressing growing concerns on erosion sites and their threats to the environment.
The Committee’s ultimate objective is to prompt the Executive arm into action for proper road planning, funding, and maintenance.
Similarly, the member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mike Etaba has moved a motion seeking the need for a clear boundary demarcation between Cross River and Ebonyi States.
Etaba prayed the House to urge the National Boundary Commission to commence and complete the demarcation of the boundary between the two States as well as mandate the committee on legislative compliance when constituted, to ensure the resolutions are complied with accordingly.
He recalled that, in March 2019, a total of 3000 lives and properties running into hundreds of millions were reportedly lost to hostilities arising from the boundary disputes, reiterating his commitment to the restoration of peace and the security of lives and properties.
