Sheath Your Sword, We Don’t Have Issues – Akpanke Pleads Supporters, As He Joins Deputy Governor, Others In Legor Thanksgiving

By Patrick Obia

While words were trading between the supporters of a former member who represented Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Legor Idagbor, and the incumbent member – Honorable Peter Akpanke over a solar light project in the constituency, Akpanke has prayed their supporters to sheath their swords.

The altercations continued till the former Chief of Staff to former Governor Ben Ayade – Hon. Martins Orim waded in and threw a gibe saying Honorable Akpanke is trying to high jack Legor’s solar light project; an assertion Akpanke described as “the merchant of lies at it again”.

However, in a thanksgiving service held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ikot Ansa, Calabar, Peter said “For anyone who has issues with me courtesy of Rt. Honorable Legor should learn that myself and Rt. Honorable Legor don’t have any problem”.

He described Idagbor as a friend, astute politician, cerebral gentleman, and above all a brother who has proved his brotherhood in words and actions.

The one-time member Akpanke added that Mr. Legor did something unprecedented during the just-concluded elections when he called to congratulate him within 24 hours after the election results were announced.

“I was humbled and emotional when Rt. Hon. Legor also refused to join in any court litigation against me after the elections, Hon Peter Akpanke acknowledged,” as he prayed and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
