Cross River Assembly To Write Executive Over Revamping Tourism Sector

Cross River House of Assembly has resolved to call the Executive arm to revive Bebi Airstrip and other tourist sites across the State.

The House unanimously agreed that the State needed to go back towards to it’s glory days, recognizing the economic benefits.

This was the outcome of yesterday’s plenary. The resolution was from a motion moved by the Member representing Calabar South 2, Hon. Victor Ekpeyong who bemoaned the deplorable condition of most of the tourist sites across the State.

Some of the attraction sites mentioned include the Obudu ranch resort, Agbokim waterfall, Nkarasi monoliths, the Marina resort, Mary Slessor House, Tinapa business and leisure resort, among others.

Hon. Ekpeyong, a first-time lawmaker further implored his colleagues to look into beefing up the Obudu mountain race which has gotten global recognition.

In contribution the Deputy Majority Leader and Member Representing Abi State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Davis Etta reiterated  that Cross River was once internationally known as a tourist destination.

He stressed the need to urgently revamp the State’s tourism sector.

Other Lawmakers supported the motion and unanimously voted in favor of it.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem (Ikom State constituency) in his remark regretted that the tourist sites were neglected.
