Do Not Lose Hope On Nigeria, Cross River – Iso Bassey Admonishes Young Minds

In commemoration of this year’s International Democracy Day (IDD) 2023, the founder of the Cross River Movement (TCRM), Mr. Iso Bassey has admonished Nigerians and Cross Riverians not to give up on Nigeria’s Democracy.

Iso Bassey gave the admonition as his IDD message to young people when TCRM gathered young people, volunteers, and fans of good governance at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) to mark the day on Friday, September 15, 2023, in Calabar.

His words: “Let’s remember that democracy is a journey, not just a destination. By staying engaged, informed, and holding our leaders accountable, we can collectively work towards a stronger, more vibrant democracy that truly represents the will of the people.

“Don’t lose hope; let’s continue to nurture and defend the democratic ideals that Nigeria aspires to achieve. Together, we can overcome challenges and build a better future for all,” he advised.

The event was an opportunity to enlighten and empower students, TCRM volunteers, and other young people to focus on education and civic engagements, with a target to inspire the next generation of leaders.

The theme for this year’s International Democracy Day celebration is ’empowering tomorrow’s leaders: strengthening democracy through education”.

Highlights of the event were presentations by guest speakers, panel discussions, and the presentation of certificates of completion of an online course on good governance organized by TCRM.
