Calabar Marina Resort Reopens After Weeks Of Shutdown By Government

By Mary Bassey, House Of Assembly Correspondent

After weeks the Government of Cross River State shut down Calabar Marina resort due to a tragic boat mishap that claimed three medical student lives, the Resort has reopened again.

Governor Otu while reopening the Resort in Calabar said it was necessary to temporarily close the Resort in order to equip and put more safety measures in place to avert any other future incidents.

Governor Otu represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Elvert Ayambem urged the management of Calabar Marina to learn from its past poor managerial operation and wake up with the best operations.

“Not only making everyone mourn the demise of the students that lost their lives but he went ahead banning the entire Marina Resort. Is a height taken so that things can be put in the right respective places.

“I know a lot of Cross Riverians are waiting for the return of Cross River State. A lot has been signed there, let us add value rather than destroy, let us learn to respect government policies, let us learn to keep government policies as clean as they will be.”

The Speaker commended Governor Otu for the giant strides recorded so far in his 100 days in office.
