Citizens’ Solution Network Laments Official Car Theft, Pray Governor Otu, Individuals For Help

By Sylvia Akpan

The official vehicle of the Country Director of Citizens’ Solution Network (CSN), Mr. Richard Inoyo has been stolen, CrossRiverWatch, understands.

It is understood that Richards’ car; a gold Toyota Camry with plate number: HA 107 ABC, Chassis Number: 4T1BG22K2V0774308, and Engine Number: 357696264 was stolen “inside his street” in Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State on Thursday 5th October, 2023.

In a press release issued and made available to CrossRiverWatch by the National Secretary of the Network, Olaitan Akinlawon on Monday, October 9, 2023, expressed worries about the increasing rate of car theft in the State.

The organization called on all security agencies to swim into action for a quick recovery of the vehicle which has “critically affected the works we do and the civic intervention services we render to underprivileged individuals, right abuse victims, and underserved communities across the LGAs of the State and the country at large who depend on our legal efforts and material supports to seek justice and secure new balance when they suffer unexpected challenges and problems.”

CSN meanwhile, has prayed Governor Bassey Otu and well-meaning individuals to kindly assist in donating or provide another to help continue the selfless service they are rendering.

The press release reads: “About 9 am on Thursday, 5th October 2023, 5 days ago, the official car of our Country Director, Richard Inoyo was stolen inside his street in Calabar where he resides. The stolen car is a gold Toyota Camry with plate number: HA 107 ABC, Chassis Number: 4T1BG22K2V0774308, and Engine Number: 357696264.

“Series of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force and from goodwill individuals have been made to retrieve the car, but as we speak, the car is still out of sight and out of reach.

“This development of car theft in our organization has critically affected the works we do and the civic intervention services we render to underprivileged individuals, right abuse victims and underserved communities across the LGAs of the State and the country at large who depend on our legal efforts and material supports to seek justice and secure new balance when they suffer unexpected challenges and problems.

“Emerging crime reports now show that car theft is now the dominant crime in the State Capital with some 3 cars missing on the 5th of October, 2023, the same day that one of our organization’s official cars was stolen.

“The implication of this is that, as the Carnival Calabar draws closer, this will further discourage tourists and visitors from visiting the State; because nobody wants to have their car parked and stolen due to the security breach and under-equipped intelligence in the State.

“As we call on the State government and the various security institutions to do more to improve the security conditions and provisions within the State especially as regards clandestine street cameras in key areas, and joint security collaboration, we wish to remind everyone that security is the first and fundamental job description of every state government to her citizens.

“Let it be on the public registry, Citizens’ Solution Network does not apply for foreign aid neither does our organization utilize grants from foreign countries nor take money from international institutions; we only and solely depend on the goodwill of well-meaning citizens and compassionate public and private institutions to deliver the vital interventions and works we carry out. We believe in our collective programs and initiatives as citizens to solve our state and national problems without foreign institutions’ finance or support, and this is the fundamental principle that guides our organization and the essence of our name, Citizens’ Solution Network.

“That said, as a government that prides itself as a compassionate one with people’s first mantra, we shall be pleased if the Cross River State Government can assist in enabling Citizens’ Solution Network to retrieve the above-stolen car or assist in securing a new car (in the absence of the above) to continue reaching out to remote communities where its services are largely needed so as to contain the ongoing disruptive impart this car-theft has brought to our organization within Cross River State.
