The Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and its partners has announced the commencement of the second round of Optimize Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week (OMNCHW 2) across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.
This was disclosed in a public service announcement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Etim Effiong Ayi dated 25 November 2023.
The announcement said the second round of OMNCHW 2, is scheduled to commence from Wednesday 29th November to Sunday 3rd December, 2023, and children from the age of 0-59 months are the targetted age as well as pregnant women.
The Permanent Secretary enjoined all health workers to be in all health facilities, churches, mosques, recreational centers, markets, schools, and other designated posts to give interventions such as Vitamin A supplements, deworming tablets, routine immunization, birth registration, screening for malnutrition, iron and fersolate tablet to pregnant women, family planning services, HIV counseling and testing with PMTCT services among others.
Dr. Etim Effiong called on parents and caregivers to bring their kids and wards for the exercise from Wednesday 29th November to Sunday 3rd December 2023.
