By CrossRiverWatch Admin

Hon. Brian Odey of the Labour Party (LP) has been appointed as the new Deputy Minority Leader of the 10th Assembly by the Cross River State House of Assembly.

This decision was made after Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim, who previously held the position representing Ogoja State Constituency, was dismissed by the Appeal Court.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly Speaker Matthew Okache, Hon. Brian Odey, who represents Yala 1 State Constituency, will now assume the role of Deputy Minority Leader. The announcement was made by Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Recall that the court of appeal, sitting in Lagos on November 23, 2023, sacked Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and declared Hon. Thomas Aruku of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18, 2023, general election.
