By Able Winnard

Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) Cross River State chapter, has taken its training and sensitization exercise on peacebuilding to the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).

P4P is a network dedicated to promoting peace in the Niger Delta which provides a platform where people with different backgrounds and perspectives can come together, not to point fingers or take sides, but to understand and address the root causes of conflict and build peace.

The training is in collaboration with the Center for Healthworks Development and Research Initiative (CHEDRES), tutoring the undergraduates on the need to live in peace and harmony among each other irrespective of tribe, gender, age, religion or views.

The one day training of peace advocates/facilitators on peacebuilding and early warning response to conflict, held in UNICROSS, Calabar campus, the State Coordinator of Patterns for Peace in the Niger Delta, Ukoribe Esien pointed some sources of conflict within the university environment  and how conflict can be managed as one cannot live without conflict.

Mr. Esien highlighted a few Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) as one of the vital tools for monitoring conflict.

The peacebuilding conversation which was highly interactive was geared towards the promotion of peace in and around the campus, for the establishment of the Peace Club in UNICROSS.
