In a Press Release Issued on the 16th day of March, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Council, applauds Governor Bassey Otu over appointing its Chairman Gill Nsa as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
Describing the benefactor as a “seasoned and competent Journalist”, the NUJ in a statement signed by Solomon Azu, Secretary of the Union, said the appointment of Gill Nsa, as CPS, who then was the state Correspondent of the Nation Newspaper and the Council Chairman for Cross River, is well-deserved.
The union also applauded Governor Bassey Edet Otu, for appointing Mr. Linus Obogo as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
Part of the statement reads: “The appointment is not a surprise owing to the pedigree of Gill as one of the finest and hardworking journalists who has traveled the length and breadth of Nigeria in the course of discharging his duties.
“NUJ also congratulated the former Deputy Chief Press Secretary to former governor Mr. Linus Obogo on his appointment as Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity.”
Solomon Azu urged Linus Obogo to work closely with the new CPS to enable them to effectively project the image of the Governor and also bridge communication gaps that may result in fake news or misinformation about government policies and programs.
The Statement appreciates the Governor’s humble beginning of strengthening his relationship with the media, hoping that more journalists will be appointed to assist in bringing the government closer to the people.
The Union, “urged all the appointees not to betray the confidence reposed on them by working for the state’s progress instead of pursuing self-interest above collective interest.
Recall that comrade Nsa Gill had been appointed CPS to Governor Otu, on March 11th, after the Governor redeployed Emmanuel Ogbeche his former CPS to the role of Special Adviser (SA) Media to the Governor (Abuja).
