Former Editor-In-Chief Of Newswatch, Ray Ekpu Loses Wife

Former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch, Ray Ekpu, has lost his wife, Uyai Ray Ekpu, to the cold arms of death.

In an announcement signed and made available by Ray Ekpu for the family, she passed away on April 21, 2024, after a brief illness at the age of 73 years.

Before her call to yonder, the late Uyai was a senior staff of the Center for Management Development (CMD) and retired in 2011 as an Acting Director, Management Education and Training Department.

She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. She also obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu State.

Late Mrs. Ray also earned diplomas from the Maastricht School of Management and the Ghana Institute of Management and Personnel Administration, Ghana.

As a mother, she believed in family values, community service, and inclusivity and had the gift of compassion and love for God.

The deceased is survived by her husband, Ray Ekpu, and three children – Elu Ray Mbakwe, Mfoniso Ray Ekpu, and Edikan Ray Osho. Six grandchildren, an elderly sister Eneanwan Inyang, a retired school teacher, and a host of other relations.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, according to the family.
