Continuing his commitment to fulfill campaign promises aimed at enhancing connectivity across the state, His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has launched a significant road construction project spanning 29.87 kilometers to reconnect communities in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
Addressing attendees at the flag-off ceremony for the Oban-Nsan Road, Governor Bassey Otu, represented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Honorable Ankpo Pius Edet, reiterated his administration’s dedication to delivering on its pledges. He urged patience from the populace, assuring that every corner of the State would reap the benefits of his governance.
Emphasizing a commitment to prioritize projects based on their broader impact rather than individual interests, Governor Otu expressed empathy for the challenges faced by communities with poor road infrastructure. He pledged swift action to transform their circumstances, ensuring safer and more accessible transportation routes.
Governor Otu underscored the apolitical nature of the Oban-Nsan road project, emphasizing its alignment with his administration’s ethos of responsiveness to citizens’ needs, particularly vulnerable groups like women and children endangered by dilapidated roads.
In his words: “Our decision to embark on this project isn’t driven by political motives. It’s a divine mandate guiding our governance, not political affiliations.”
Acknowledging the instrumental role of Hon. Ankpo Pius Edet, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, in securing the project, Governor Otu commended constructive criticism aimed at improving governance. He expressed confidence that with concerted efforts, such criticisms would evolve into constructive engagements fostering community development.
Upon completion, the Oban-Nsan road will facilitate enhanced connectivity for residents of Akamkpa LGA, fostering socio-economic development in the region.
Mr. Micheal Asuquo, Chairman/CEO of Faithplant Global Int’l Services, conveyed gratitude to the Governor for the timely intervention, pledging unwavering support for the People First Agenda.
Similarly, the Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa extended heartfelt appreciation to Governor Otu, invoking blessings and divine guidance for the project’s success.
The event witnessed the presence of various political stakeholders from the local government, reflecting widespread support for the initiative’s transformative potential.
