Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan-Enoh, has praised the 10th International Day of Yoga, highlighting its benefits for mental and physical fitness.

Speaking at the event organized by the Indian High Commission at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, June 22, 2024, Senator Owan-Enoh recognized the significance of Yoga.

“I thank the Indian High Commissioner and the government and people of India for promoting yoga globally. It is noteworthy that the Indian High Commissioner worked with the United Nations to get this approved. This is one of the greatest contributions the Indian government has made to global wellness and fitness.”

He emphasized that yoga, which involves mental and spiritual exercises, can enhance human abilities.

The Minister, who was at the stadium to launch the Federal Civil Service’s monthly physical exercise program, announced that he would begin yoga training.

“There is no human being that does not need a healthy and fulfilled life. Before coming here, I was inaugurating the Federal Civil Service’s monthly mental and physical exercise. It is a fortunate coincidence that the yoga activity is taking place at the same place.”
