The Speaker of the Cross River State House Of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Elvert Ayambem, has applauded Governor Bassey Otu for prioritizing and reviving tourism in the State.
He made the assertion while attending the Cross River State Tourism N10m Grant, Central Senatorial District, Hoteliers Award, held at the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar organized by the State Government through the Tourism Bureau.
It is aimed to empower and invest in the excellence of sustainable tourism through grants to hoteliers across the state and as part of its support and commitment for the rehabilitation of their hotels for maximum comfort and services.
The Speaker commended Otu for prioritizing tourism and internationally reviving the sector, describing the initiative as a generational stride towards empowering and promoting tourism in the state.
He reiterated that tourism, under his administration has been better than it used to be, and expressed optimism that the sector will usher in more developments in the coming days.
Major highlight of the event was the presentation of grants to the beneficiaries by Ayambem.
In attendance was the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Mr. Anakan Ndoma, members of Cross River Tourism Bureau and other government dignitaries.
