An abandoned newborn baby has been rescued at 8 Miles, Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The day-old baby boy was dumped at the former Ekosin fuel station close to a refuse dump. Fortunately, a good Samaritan rescued the infant on time.
An eyewitness said the baby was found a few hours after being abandoned by an unknown person.
A resident living close to the scene discovered the newborn and drew the attention of passerbys who then took swift action to ensure the baby’s safety.
He is currently receiving care and efforts are being made to locate the suspected mother. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandonment.
