Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, has issued an ultimatum to the State Secondary Education Board (SEB) to submit a comprehensive report on the irregularities surrounding the now-reversed transfer of principals.
The transfer, which was recently reversed by Governor Bassey Otu, has raised concerns about potential financial transactions made to influence the posting and transfer of principals.
The Commissioner summoned key officials, including Director Administration/Acting Chairman, Mr. Paulinus Eno, and zonal representatives, to address the issue. He urged anyone involved in financial transactions related to the transfer to come forward and report to his office for further action.
He is said to have given the SEB 48 hours to submit the report, which will then be forwarded to Governor Otu for necessary action. He said the move aims to promote transparency and accountability within the education sector.
The development is the latest in a series of efforts to address concerns within the Cross River State education system. Recently, the state government suspended 31 principals for alleged WAEC exams racketeering. The Education Ministry has also held pre-resumption meetings with principals and head teachers to address key issues
