Cross River Young Shooting Champion, Augustine Ellah Receives Triumphant Welcome, Scholarship

It was a triumphant welcome by teachers, school Administrator, and students of Amethystfield Schools, as they rolled out drums to celebrate the first young Cross Riverian gold medalist, Master Augustine Ellah, in the Shooting category at the just concluded National Youth Games, in Asaba, Delta State.

In a standout performance, Augustine Ellah, the son of Cornelius Ellah – pioneer Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), emerged victorious in the Boys Rifle competition, securing the coveted gold medal. His exceptional marksmanship and focus were instrumental in his win, highlighting his dedication and training.

And on Monday, September 23, 2024, his school heroically received him. Staff and Students of the school appreciated the young medalist for his relentless training and confidence which contributed significantly to his win at the NYG

The school administrator Mr. Centurion Isaac, rained praises on the young genius Ellah and charged other students to aspire to do better than him. He emphasized that the sky is only a starting point for every individual and encouraged them to soar against every limitation.

He thereafter awarded Augustine with a scholarship that would cover all his school expenses for the term.

Augustine’s parent, Mr. Cornelius Ellah, a reputable and celebrated lecturer in UNICROSS was present during the celebration and had the opportunity to express fatherly elation.

He appreciated his son for his relentless efforts and advised other students to listen to their parents and teachers if they wished to make history like Augustine, soar with the eagles, and stand in the Hall of Fame.

Speaking with CrossRiverWatch reporters, Master Augustine who is still in the euphoria of his win expressed happiness for the feat.

The SS 2 student, thanked his parents for the mental, emotional, and financial support that was showered on him.

Ellah said the medal would not be his last but just the genesis of his career as he set to break more records.
