The Office of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has dispelled the recent rumors regarding the purported sacking of Prof. Florence Banku Obi.
The Head of Media, Office of the Vice Chancellor, John Ogar in an E-signed rebuttal states that the speculations are baseless, unfounded and orchestrated by mischief makers and ignoramus.
He said Prof. Obi who is currently on approved leave remains the Vice Chancellor of the school.
The varsity urges the public to disregard the rumors and advise those jostling to take over from her to rather concern themselves with how they can fit into the big shoes she will leave in UNICAL rather than looking for ways to distract and discredit her.
UNICAL averred that “the university system has remained robust and functional in her absence, thanks to her commitment to excellence and proper planning by ensuring that she handed over to Prof. Peter Okafor, one of her Deputy Vice Chancellors to act in her absence.
“As we await her return, we are confident that Prof. Obi will continue her good work of leading the University of Calabar towards even greater heights.”
