The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has hosted its first National Colloquium Conference on Special Needs Education.
The conference held on Thursday October 17, 2024, is in honor of Prof. Emeka Desmond Ozoji’s retirement. The two-day conference, themed “Nigerian Special Needs Education in Search of an Identity,” aims to tackle the challenges and prospects of special needs education in Nigeria.
The program objective addresses the challenges facing special needs education in Nigeria, explore innovative approaches and best practices for inclusive education and foster discussions on policy reforms
The conference celebrates Prof. Ozoji’s dedication to special needs education, bringing together stakeholders to share insights and strategies for improving education for children with special needs .
Dr. Musa Moses Egaga, Dr. Josephine Dasel Nanjwan, and Mr. Innocent Ushi Igba, have all conducted research in special education in the Department of Special Education in the institution.
