After the Organized Labour in Cross River State, had threatened to embark on an infinite strike over non agreement of the seventy thousand (70,000) minimum wage, the state government has yielded to the demand.
The decision, which was reached after a series of negotiations involving key stakeholders – the Trade Unions Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC), and other parties in the Minimum Wage Committee set up by the governor.
The implementation is effective from December 1, 2024.
The implementation of the new minimum wage is expected to boost the morale of workers in the state and improve their standard of living.
