IPAC Ends One-Day Zonal Seminar On Gender Inclusion In Calabar

The Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has ended a one-day zonal seminar for political parties chairmen and stakeholders, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The seminar drew party chairmen and stakeholders from Kwara, Cross River, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Borno, Kaduna, other states with an aim at harnessing the full potential of women in politics.

Speaking at the event, the Cross River State Chairman of IPAC, Engr. Edet Okon said IPAC is committed to bringing women’s transformational leadership. He disclosed that IPAC will continue to work with the state government.

“I want to first express appreciation to the executive Governor Of Cross River State Senator Bassey Otu, the women friendly Governor. We are committed to bringing all our women into politics, women deserve to compete for elective offices with their male counterparts.

“Let’s continue to advocate for women’s inclusiveness in politics. Husbands, please support your wives. Our women should be given an opportunity to thrive and go into politics,” he said.

Akwa Ibom State Chairman of IPAC, Blessing Umoren, stated the importance of women participation in politics. According to her, “women’s participation in politics is not just a matter of equality, but also a matter of justice.”

Umoren emphasized that women’s participation in politics is essential for achieving sustainable development and promoting peace and security.

The All Progressive Congress APC Chairman in Cross River State, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, underscored the importance of women’s participation in politics. He noted that the APC is committed to promoting women’s inclusiveness in politics and has implemented measures to increase women’s participation in the party.

The seminar featured presentations from experts on women political participation. Participants share their experiences, challenges, and made connections with each other.

The event was attended by chairmen of political parties from various states, stakeholders, women rights advocates, community leaders, and media.
