The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 6 command of the Nigerian Police Force, AIG Mustapha Muhamed Bala on Thursday received and deployed the 1,033 Constables who passed out from the Police Training School, Odukpani in Cross River State.
AIG Bala disclosed that the newly pronounced Constables will be deployed to communities to augment its law enforcement efforts across the country, a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Edim Obazi Eyam issued Thursday in Calabar with the reference number, Az:5300/ZPC.6/ZPRD/VOL.4/76 read.

AIG Bala, who served as the Review Officer at the parade and represented the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, said their deployment will “help address the longstanding manpower deficit” in the force.
“He added that the exercise is in line with the President’s directive for the annual recruitment of 30000 police constables across the 774 Local Government Areas of the federation to strengthen our internal security, enhance police performance, and promote optimal police service delivery nationwide,” the statement read.

It continued; “The recruits were trained in professional, legal and liberal studies to enable them to carry out law enforcement, crime prevention/detection and preservation of law and order in the country. They are to be posted to their local government areas of origin. This strategic development aim is to augment ongoing law enforcement efforts and reinforce the fight against crime at the grassroots level.”
The AIG added that the IGP is using the passing-out parade, which took place simultaneously in four premier colleges and twelve training schools across the country, to “assure Nigerians of adequate security as they go about their lawful engagements.”
Eight outstanding students were presented with awards at the parade which drew service commanders, friends, families, and well-wishers from the four states where the recruits hail from – Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers.
