Apostle Ubong Bassey, a self acclaimed clergyman who is on the run from the Police after he was accused of killling his daughter, Deborah, has now used the same force to arrest his grieving wife.
Deborah, a child said to have been with Down Syndrome, died after Mr Bassey directed the son to leave the room where she slipped and fell so that he will attend to her, only to discover later that she had died.
The sad incident occurred on February 15, 2025 at about 4Pm at 7, Jacob Street of Eyo Edem in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The matter was then reported to the Cross River State Police Command, which led to Mr. Bassey fleeing.
However, on Saturday morning, rights activist, James Ibor Esq, informed CrossRiverWatch that Mr. Bassey used the Zone 6 Police Command to instigate the arrest of his grieving wife who had shared her ordeal, pointing out that, “we (mother and children including the deceased) have suffered severe physical abuses leading to my running away.”
“I received the call from the Zone 6 command of the Nigerian Police Force, which has left me in shock! I am going there, and we will not relent in the pursuit of justice,” Ibor, who is the Principal Counsel at the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, told CrossRiverWatch.
