Senator Eteng’s Exemplary Grassroots Engagement In Cross River Central BY HOPE OBETEN

In the past week, the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State has reverberated with gratitude and admiration for the distinguished representation of Senator Eteng Jonah Williams. His recent visit to his constituency was profoundly impactful, a testament to the Senator’s enduring commitment to the welfare of his people.

Returning home during the Easter season, Senator Eteng transformed the holiday into a period of meaningful engagement, demonstrating both empathy and effectiveness in leadership. He traversed the district with a mission anchored in compassion, service, and democratic dividends.

True to this philosophy, the Senator undertook a humanitarian tour of hospitals across the senatorial district, personally offsetting the medical debts of financially incapacitated patients. This benevolent gesture amounted to over N20 million, alleviating the burdens of numerous families and restoring hope to the most vulnerable.

Understanding the essence of inclusive governance, Senator Eteng convened a series of consultative meetings with critical stakeholders, party loyalists, and youth organizations. A town hall gathering, notably with the vibrant youth of the district, provided a platform for open dialogue and strategic planning for future development initiatives.

Further reflecting his belief in the improvement of public institutions, Senator Eteng made a significant donation of N8 million to the Ikom Divisional Police Headquarters for the construction of standard sanitation facilities; a step aimed at enhancing the welfare and dignity of law enforcement personnel.

In addition, he pledged N10 million toward the developmental efforts in Ekpache Nkome, a community that holds strategic significance within the senatorial zone. His gesture was not merely a promise, but a reaffirmation of his long-standing dedication to grassroots empowerment.

These impactful actions have sparked widespread endorsements from diverse quarters, with many political groups and constituents calling for a second term for the senator; citing his effective representation, accessibility and result-oriented approach as qualities befitting continued representation.
