Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) and Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) have concluded the Unfinished Business project in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.
The project is a strategic initiative aimed at advancing inclusive electoral reforms, gender equity, and democratic accountability in Nigeria – supported by PAACA, PLAC, and the MacArthur Foundation.
As part of the project rollout, a series of impactful engagements were conducted in Calabar. It included a town hall sensitization meeting in Ikot Effanga Mkpa on June 6, 2025, and market sensitization campaigns at Akim Market on June 19; Watt Market on June 21, and 8 Miles Market on June 28, 2025.

BRCI noted that the activities provided a vital platform to amplify the voices of women, youths, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the electoral process.
Advocates emphasized the importance of implementing key policies, such as the 35% Affirmative Action, the National Gender Policy, and the Justice Uwais Electoral Reform Recommendations.
“Basic Rights Counsel Initiative is proud to contribute to a vision where every Nigerian has equitable access to participate in shaping the nation’s democracy. Kudos to Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) for leading this transformative effort,” the non-profit making organization said.
