Books Warning Against Abortion, Other Vices Launched In Cross River

By Godwin Ajom

Books warning against abortion, religious and tribal bigotry and other social vices have been launched in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The five new literatures; “Verses of Mbube Prince”, “My Poems and I”, “Poetic Calling of Free Verses”, “Tales of Love”, and “Spiritual Musing” are authored by Dr. Michael Nku Abuo, and reviewed by Prof. Michael Okom.

The author who doubles as the State Coordinator of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD-AUDA), crowned it with his 40th birthday.

Chairman of the Book Launch and reviewer, Prof. Michael Okom, commended Abuo for his commitment to literature, morality, and youth empowerment. The Professor described the literatures as a mirror of the society, offering young people guidance in a world where immorality and vices often dominate.

“I think our young people should take advantage of his role model and follow his footsteps,” Okom said. “In these books, he has spoken boldly against vices such as immorality, abortion, and bigotry.

Cross River State Deputy Governor, Honorable Peter Odey, in his remarks, said he never knew Michael Abuo is a writer rather than a political mobilizer – applauding his writing prowess.

“For those of us in politics, we have known Mike mostly for his mobilization skills. But one thing you cannot take away from this young man is that Mike always has a reason for anything he does. He is intelligent, focused, and people-oriented.”

The Deputy Governor used the opportunity to challenge young Nigerians to learn from Abuo’s discipline and drive.

In his remarks, Dr. Abuo expressed gratitude to God, his family, colleagues, and friends for standing by him.

Abuo explained that the books that took him 15 years to write were drawn from real-life experiences, personal, societal, issues of love, spirituality, politics, and global realities.
