A vital section of IBB Way, a highbrow street in Calabar, the Cross River State capital has been blocked for hours following the crash of a trailer carrying flour.
The truck, conveying sacks of flour was heading towards the U.J Esuene Stadium end of IBB Way when it skipped over the pavement dividing the road with its front tires lodged at the gutter, meters away from the Channel 1 drainage system of the city.
There are two accounts to what happened.
One eyewitness says the mini speed breaker, designed like a rumble strip startled the driver who probably did not see it because there are no markings.

The second disagreed, pointing out that the sudden braking of the vehicle in front of the truck near the speed breaker, forced the driver to steer left to avoid a collision.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday with traffic forced into either Barracks road to Otop Abasi or Nyok Esu street to access the Murtala Muhammed Highway.
As at press time, Vehicle Inspection Officers from the Department of Road Transport Services/Department of Motor Vehicles Administration were on site with a mobile crane hooked to the truck, trying to reposition it for exit.
Also, some sacks of the flour are being evacuated.
