Cross River State command in its recently activated crime strategies has foiled yet another robbery attempt within Calabar metropolis, days after robbery attempt, and stolen car was recovered in the state.
The recent robbery attempt occurred in the early hours of 14th October, 2025 when the proactive Surveillance team of Uwanse Division sighted a Motorcycle caring two pillion passengers hovering around a street at Nelson Mandela Street, Calabar South.

A challenge by the surveillance team caused one of the suspects to scamper from the bike as the other two speed off while one among the suspects, named Nsikak Johnson, aged 23; a resident of Mary Slessor Road, Calabar was arrested with a locally made Pistol, two live cartridges and a face mask.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo, the confessed that their intention was not to rob but to distribute hard drugs. The police says the suspect is currently helping investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Afeghua, while commending the surveillance team, noted that, deployment of visibility patrols and stop-check teams in flash points is helping to stem down the crime rates.
