Cross River Government Commences Educational Orientation For Secondary Schools

The Cross River State Government has announced the commencement of a four-week Educational Orientation Summit for secondary school students across the Southern Senatorial District.

The participating Local Government Areas include Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, Odukpani, Akamkpa, and Biase.

The initiative is being driven by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Orientation (SAGSO), Comrade Afufu Anthony Ogar-Ogabor, with the theme: “From Distraction to Distinction: Empowering Students to Overcome Social Pressure, Drug Temptation, and Career Confusion.”

According to the schedule, the summit will begin at Government Secondary School, Barracks Road Calabar, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

It will then continue at, Government Secondary School, Anantigha Friday; November 7, 2025 – Government Secondary School Ikang; Monday, November 10, 2025 – Government Secondary School, Ikot Ewa; Wednesday, November 12, 2025 – Government Secondary School, Akamkpa; Wednesday, November 19, 2025 – Government Secondary School, Adiabo, Tinapa; Friday, November 21, 2025 and Community Secondary School, Adim, Biase

A lineup of seasoned speakers are expected to address the students, including Dr. John Inaku, Ebinyi Cecilia Ekedi, Hon. Egwu Egeh Umet, Pastor Kenneth Akpet, among others.

The orientation summit comes at a time when the state government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is intensifying efforts to reposition and revitalize the education sector in Cross River State.
