The Cross River State Police Command has rolled out an extensive security operation during the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, assuring residents of maximum safety while issuing a stern warning to criminal elements to stay away from the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Rashid B. Afegbua, disclosed that the Command has deployed both human and material resources across strategic locations to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration before, during, and after the festivities.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, he said a comprehensive operational order has been activated to monitor and neutralize threats posed by hoodlums and other criminal elements who may attempt to disrupt public peace.

As part of intensified security measures, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical units, and special squads have been directed to carry out sustained raids on identified black spots across the state. The operations, the police emphasized, will strictly adhere to established procedures of the Nigeria Police Force and align with the broader security agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on any act capable of undermining law and order, warning that it “will not fold its hands” while individuals or groups attempt to cause unrest under any guise.

While calling on Muslim faithful to celebrate with moderation and dignity, the police urged all residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid crime prevention.

Emergency and distress lines have been made available to ensure rapid response to incidents, as the Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the festive period.

The Control Room can be reached via 08133568456, 07053355414, and 07067977330, while the Complaint Response Unit is available on 08137083052 and 08134096900.

The Command assures residents that all calls will receive swift attention to ensure timely intervention and enhanced public safety across the state.
